Program Note:

Chesterton's Gardens was written for the New York-based cellist Philip Sheegog in 2016. This piece marks the final stages of a nine year stay in the city. The piece accentuates the lyricism and lush quality of the instrument cello through long and prolonging melodic structures. Piano supports the singing character of the cello line through various textures and harmonic gestures.
